You've only heard these types of screams at rock concerts. It's true, I was the LOUDEST scream at the Saturday raffle, and it's because I had been in this for TEN YEARS and never won and THIS if any horse, was the HORSE for ME!!! On the fourth draw, I am ecstatic to announce, I was proclaimed a BreyerFest raffle model winner!!! I think people were afraid I was going to pass out. There were tears streaming down my face and I could barely speak when the lady asked to see my ticket. LOLOL!!! Yes, I'm crazy, but at least I've earned the right to be. :)

It truly was luck. I spoke later to people in the HIN who bought more tickets than me who didn't win the raffle. In the end, I think my parents and I spent about $105.00 on raffle tickets for Saturday. I bought $25 worth on Sunday, but of course I didn't win that one. I was still on cloud nine by then and didn't really feel fazed at all when I walked away with nothing. The 26th Merlin auctioned off sold for $2800.00 Saturday evening, and I was feeling pretty good about that! I felt like a celebrity at the HIN... hehehe... I guess it just goes to show, anybody really CAN win!!!

Grats again!
He's beautiful; I hadn't seen photos of him before, so I had no idea what model he was...or that he had nifty wings.
On a side note, I'd actually done 4 different CM horses with dragon wings in 2003 and 2004! :D
Here's a photo of my favorite, though I daresay he's not as impressive as Merlin:

I made him so that his wings are removable; they "pop" into sockets in his sides. :)
Anyway, enough of that!
Again, Congratulations! -- Merlin is beautiful and I'm quite jealous! ;)
That's a really cool custom! I have bought a lot of bodies to custom, but I haven't set aside the time to try it. It seems a lot easier to just start from scratch on the darn things than to try dremmeling them and all that. (I got a tip on some Sculpey to buy, so I think I'm going to try that since I already like wire sculpting)
You should be proud! I'm still envious!
I find the dremel necessary for sanding seams & carving ears (and drilling holes when needed).
Of course, these are things that can also be done by hand, but it takes a lot longer that way.
I'd really recommend you to try your hand at customizing, especially since you're familiar with sculpting already. It can be very rewarding!
I've done some "from scratch" sculpting too, and I've found that my prior custom-work was very helpful in giving me a good grasp of 3-D equine anatomy. :)
*This almost, ALMOST makes me want to give up the Nancy Drew games *By the way, not gonna happen...nuh-uh*
Nancy Drew games? The headless horse? Wha?!!!
